Who we are

Kaitiaki Land Services is a leading New Zealand Based advisory, brokerage and trading company specialising in the ETS (carbon) and forestry industries.  Our aim is to assist land owners to maximise return on their land. Kaitiaki Land Services is available to discuss Carbon Strategies for people who seek advice on Carbon Farming with an aim to minimise liability.

Taine Randell - Director

Taine has been involved in the New Zealand carbon industry since 2008 after working as a commodity broker in London from 2005-2008 (specialising in oil and gold derivatives).  He also worked closely with the carbon team of TFS Green (London) and experienced first-hand the parallels of oil and carbon markets. As well as having hands on experience with the early development of the European ETS, Taine  has participated in the initial, and development stages of New Zealand's ETS.

Taine graduated from Otago University in 1997 with degrees in Law and Commerce and played professional rugby in New Zealand and England for 12 years.

 

Joanne Edwards - Head of Operations

Joanne is a commercial solicitor with over 15 years experience in New Zealand, Europe and the USA.  Joanne runs her own legal consultancy firm and has been involved in the Carbon Industry since 2010.  Joanne offers specialist advice to landowners and stakeholders alike who seek assistance in understanding legal requirements under the ETS as well as offering risk management advice.



Colin Pirie - Director Habitat BPM

Habitat BPM offers a range of experience from large scale aerial operations to small technical design projects.  Colin has extensive working experience with indigenous forest regeneration, mapping, management and maintenance.  Colin uses field and office based software (Arcview GIS) GPS units to assess Post-1989 Indigenous and Exotic Land to MPI (Ministry of Primary Industries) standards.  Habitat BPM has key relationships with Regional Councils, DOC, Nga Whenua Rahui and Local Iwi.

 

Bruce Churchouse - Director, BCCCsL

BCCCsL predominantly uses Arcmap Suite and uploads ESRI shapefiles to lodge ETS applications to date.  Bruce has delivered numerous GIS, CAD and Land Survey functions and completed the mapping for a number of successful Pre-1990 ETS Applications for our clients.  With experience in a wide range of survey methods Bruce possesses technical computer skills including: Cross-Section, andLongsection software, 12D, ARCview, AutoCAD, Cartography, GIS work and Technical Drawings.

 

William Marshall - Director Strategy and Operations, Tipu Insure

William has a wealth of experience in the insurance industry, and is responsible for the strategic direction and operational performance of Tipu Insure‚Äôs carbon and rotation timber risk management program.  William worked in the London insurance market for a syndicate of Lloyds of London for a number of years, and for the past eight years has managed his own insurance portfolio, where his clients include individuals, small commercial companies and large corporate policy holders.
These clients benefit from his strong technical expertise in risk assessment, policy management and claims negotiation. William graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Otago

 

Serena Hakiwai - Researcher

Serena has consulted with a wide range of Applicants and Stakeholders to educate, advise and act on their behalf in connection with the Emissions Trading Scheme. This includes researching land ownership, governance structures, and verifying signatories prior to preparing and submitting ETS applications for numerous entities.



Liz Randell - Admin Support

Liz provides vital administrative support to staff.  With Liz' day to day running of administrative duties, KLS remains a leader in its field in providing a transparent end to end service in respect of the ETS, KLS Insurance and UMF Factor Honey.
